Met Gala 2015 In One Word: Basic

The Met Gala or Met Ball was in the earlier part of the month. It is an annual fundraising gala that presents the fashion exhibit fro each year.  Each year the theme changes depending on the exhibit and this year it was China: Through The Looking Glass. To be honest the dresses this year were very bland or ugly. I only had a few that I actually liked.

A popular trend right now that was present was the see through dress with fabric placed on just the right spot. I don’t get it. At first it seemed daring, but now it’s just overrated. Most of these dresses end up looking too similar, and they don’t look like dresses anymore.

Recurring patterns included flowers and inspiration from dragons. You could say some people took the theme too seriously and ended up appropriating some of the culture, but at least they tried, like some others  that barely tried and had some really plain dresses.

There also was some who took the edgier side. This was a fresh idea, as many of the attendees took the obvious way when choosing their dress. Delevigne was definitely my favorite, props to her for pulling of a look that may look boring in such an extreme red carpet.

Johnson tried, but untimely  failed to nail the edgy style, I mean look at that eyeliner.

Hair ordinates were very popular through the night. I can say that the most extravagant ones were not my favorite, especially Sarah Jessica Parker.

In my Opinion these were some of the worst of the night. None of them seemed to have tried at all. The dresses completely drag then down, even Sofia Vergara who has  an amazing figure looked drab because of the unfit cut.

Next came those who went all out, Wather it was for the better or the worse, In my case I don’t think it was worth it.

Next were my favorite.

Kate Hudson is one of my red carpet inspirations she always looks so good. She managed to make  an outfit that could look like a custom look high end.

Like I mentioned before, some people took the theme too far. I like that this dress takes inspiration from dragon scales, yet it isn’t so literal. Even if this was not the concept for it, it was one of the riskier dresses that actually did it’s job. The unusual color added to it’s appeal an separated it from others.

This dress stood out among the other one color dresses because of it’s geometric proportions, The detail, the high-low, and the neckline could have easily made it look like too much. However the sleek hair and makeup help keep the look from being too overwhelming.

I really don’t have anything special to say about the next one, I just liked it. I thought the whole look was very cute and fit Hudgens perfectly.

Vanessa Hudgens

The next one was my favorite for sure. Everything about it seem so regal. The dress, the makeup the hair. Thurman looks like she is not even trying, manages to look flawless. She looks like she belongs in Athens next to Zeus.
