Cartoons in the Real World

I made a post about a girl who shows her fashion designs through Instagram. Just like her, David Troquier also shares his artwork through the site. Troquier is a French art director and illustrator living in Amsterdam. He creates cartoons and makes them interact with the outside world, he calls it “cartoon bombing”.

It all started on a holiday vacation in 2013, he was hoping to do travel sketches but got bored with it. He ended up drawing characters that where interacting with their surroundings instead. He likes to make stories, through the sketches he could satisfy his love for art and storymaking.

Troquier told boredpanda that he called it ‘cartoon bombing’ because he feels that “the characters were hiding there and just waited until I came by and took the picture”.  He says that there is no purpose for such drawings, he just enjoys doing it.

I would love to see random cute little pictures like these outside. Sometimes we forget to just stop and look around. We are so busy with our problems or our phones, we forget to enjoy the small things in life.

Troquier has many art projects besides his cartoons, you can go check them out on his website and Instagram.
